Stayed here for 2 nights in conjunction with a family gathering. I grew up near Saratoga and the GP was always ""the place"" to stay. I admit, I was disappointed. Historical and nostalgic is one thing but the lobby is small and bland and the rooms small and lacking in amenities. The radiator in our room was out of control making the room overly warm and stuffy. The staff was very nice and helpful but for what we paid and what I know the GP used to be, I was left feeling sad. They DID, however, do a wonderful job for our event (food and event room were both very, very nice).

We recently spent two nights at the Gideon Putnam Resort. The hotel is situated in a beautiful state park, and is close to downtown Saratoga Springs. While the building is old, it is well maintained and has a nostalgic feel to it. The staff was very courteous and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

Thought we were going to a grand historic hotel in a state park. Turns out its just an old hotel in a state park. Their web site states that it was recently renovated though you couldn't tell that from the room we stayed in. Staff was friendly enough but was unable to answer even the simplest of questions. They seemed very young, without a lot of supervision. The Park is beautiful but the Hotel needs work. We won't be going back.
